Last week, Patrick Brown visited the Simcoe Muskoka Cancer Care Centre to give out complimentary Hockey Night in Barrie tickets to patients there.
It was so amazing to see the patient's eyes light up when they saw Patrick and the Hockey Night tickets. Needless to say, HNIB is such a great cause!
RVH’s Simcoe Muskoka Cancer Centre opened in 2012 and now registers 100,000 patient visits each year, saving cancer patients from the tedious drive to Toronto. Unfortunately, there is currently no child and youth mental health hospital unit in Simcoe Muskoka, so troubled children needing inpatient mental health treatment must travel outside the region for care – an enormous burden for patients and families.
“It has been great to have so many past and present Barrie Colts in the lineup for HNIB over the years. Same thing applies to the alumni of the Toronto Maple Leafs. These are a class organizations and wonderful partners in support of our hospital. The talent level of Hockey Night in Barrie has consistently remained high and this year’s game is shaping up to be the most action packed yet.” – Patrick Brown
The goal of Hockey Night in Barrie is to improve access to safe, high quality health care, hoping to make it as close to home as possible!
